An evergreen coniferous plant of the cypress family (Cupressaceae). Cypress bonsai, like other coniferous trees, has a beneficial effect on human health and creates a pleasant atmosphere in the room.
Description of Japanese Cypress
In indoor conditions, the large-fruited cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa (Goldcrest)) with scaly leaves, the shoots of which have a yellowish color, is usually grown.
The shoots of the pyramidal cypress (Cupressus pyramidalis) are directed vertically upwards, so that crown takes on a pyramidal shape. The shoots of this species are dark green.
This plant is quite difficult to grow indoors, but if you follow the care rules and regularly trim the roots, the cypress can live indoors for quite a long time.

Soil:
A mixture of clay soil, sand and organic matter in a ratio of 1:2:1. Renew the soil each time you replant.
Lighting:
Cypress loves light, provide it with bright, diffused light.
Temperature:
In summer it is moderate, preferably kept outside, in winter within 10-12° C. Occasionally the cypress should be sprayed.

Watering:
In autumn and winter, do not allow the soil to dry out. It is enough to water the cypress once a week during this period. In the spring and summer, the cypress requires a lot of moisture. Therefore, during this period, watering should be abundant.
Fertilizing Cypress Bonsai:
From late spring to early fall, feed the cypress with minerals and organic matter twice a month. In early spring, feed the cypress with nitrogen fertilizers to create a lush green crown of the bonsai tree. Closer to autumn, apply potassium and phosphorus fertilizers to fertilize the cypress. In winter, reduce the application of fertilizers by half.

Formation of the Cypress crown:
Cypress can be formed into a bonsaidifferent styles, but the most common is the vertical style. When shaping a cypress, use pruning, stretching and wire. Pruning should be done on woody shoots. The branches are quite flexible, but be careful when using wire and stretching.
