How to Choose a Color for a Bonsai Pot

The color of the container depends onplant speciesand from the composition. Bonsai and the pot should be in harmony with each other. So maples look beautiful in containers cream and light, neutral colors tones. Conifers effective in matte containers rusty brown flowers. For blooming use plants bright glossy pots.

A good container has large drainage holes, and the glaze covers the walls only from the outside. And the main condition when choosing a container for bonsai is that it should be made of ceramics and well fired.

DIY Bonsai Pot

To make a pot for bonsai at home you will need a little

  1. A plate, salad bowl or other container of suitable size and shape made of porcelain, clay, ceramics or wood
  2. Drill and drill bit with a diameter of 4-6 mm
  3. Sandpaper

We sand the bottom of the future bonsai pot from enamel so that the surface becomes matte. This is necessary to prevent the drill from slipping.

We drill three holes as shown in the photo to drain water.

If the drill has a hammer drill mode, don't forget to turn it off, otherwise the pot will burst.
